Southern Baked Mac & Cheese

This rich, creamy, and cheesy baked mac & cheese is loaded with three cheeses, a buttery custard base, and a golden, crispy top—the ultimate comfort dish!

Ingredients:
For the Mac & Cheese:

1 lb elbow macaroni

4 tbsp butter

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

2 large eggs

1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp mustard powder (optional)
For the Topping:

½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional for crunch)
1 tbsp chopped parsley

Instructions:
Cook the Pasta:

Boil elbow macaroni in salted water until al dente. Drain and toss with butter.
Make the Cheese Sauce:

In a bowl, whisk milk, heavy cream, eggs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and mustard powder.
Mix in cheddar, mozzarella, and Colby Jack cheese.
Assemble the Dish:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a greased baking dish, layer half of the macaroni and pour half of the cheese sauce over it.
Add the remaining pasta and pour the rest of the sauce.
Top with extra cheddar, mozzarella, and breadcrumbs.
Bake to Perfection:

Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
