Gourmet Hot Dogs with Crispy Onion Topping
Ingredients
For the Hot Dogs:
4 high-quality beef hot dogs
4 brioche hot dog buns
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup pickle-infused mustard (or regular mustard mixed with pickle brine)
For the Crispy Onion Topping:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 tsp salt
Vegetable oil for frying
For Garnish:
1 tbsp sesame seeds
1/4 cup diced pickles (optional)
Instructions
Prepare Crispy Onion Topping:
In a medium bowl, toss the onion slices with flour, smoked paprika, and salt until evenly coated.
Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry the coated onions in batches until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
Cook Hot Dogs:
Grill or pan-sear the hot dogs over medium heat until heated through and slightly charred.
Lightly toast the buns on the grill or in a skillet.
Assemble Hot Dogs:
Place a cooked hot dog into each bun.
Drizzle with the pickle-infused mustard.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the hot dogs and let it melt slightly.
Top and Garnish:
Add the crispy onion topping generously over each hot dog.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and diced pickles if desired.
Serve and Enjoy:
Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes like fries or coleslaw.
