Gingerbread Honey Loaf Recipe
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients:
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients:
1/2 cup (120 ml) honey
1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar
1/2 cup (120 ml) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (240 ml) whole milk or buttermilk
1 large egg
1/4 cup (60 ml) molasses or treacle
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Garnish:
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch (23×13 cm) loaf pan with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, melted butter, milk, egg, molasses, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures:
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be thick but smooth.
Pour Batter into Pan:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Garnish:
Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
