Classic Homemade Cheese Pizza
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
1 tsp sugar
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
For the Pizza:
1 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.
Assemble the Pizza:
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake the Pizza:
Carefully transfer the pizza (with the parchment paper) to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Finish and Serve:
Brush the crust with olive oil for extra flavor and a shiny finish. Slice and serve hot!
