Gourmet Ham and Cheese Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
4 slices of artisan bread (sourdough or brioche recommended)
4 slices of deli ham (or smoked ham)
4 slices of cheese (Gruyère, Swiss, or cheddar)
2 tbsp butter (softened)
1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
Fresh microgreens or parsley (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Bread:
Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
On the opposite side of two slices, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard (if using) for extra flavor.
2. Assemble the Sandwich:
Layer 2 slices of cheese and 2 slices of ham between two bread slices (buttered side facing outward). Repeat for the second sandwich.
3. Toast the Sandwich:
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted.
4. Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute.
Garnish with fresh microgreens or parsley for a fresh and vibrant touch.
Slice in half and serve warm.
Tips:
Add caramelized onions or sliced tomatoes for an extra layer of flavor.
Serve with a side of tomato soup or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
