Loaded Beef and Cheese Fries
Ingredients
For the Fries:
1 lb frozen French fries (or homemade fries)
Vegetable oil for frying (if making from scratch)
For the Shredded Beef:
1/2 lb cooked and shredded beef (leftover pot roast or slow-cooked beef works great!)
1/4 cup beef broth (to reheat beef)
For the Cheese Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheddar and mozzarella)
Salt and pepper to taste
For Toppings:
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
1/4 cup caramelized onions (optional)
Your favorite sauces (e.g., sour cream, ranch, or chipotle mayo)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Fries
If using frozen fries: Cook according to package instructions until crispy.
If making homemade fries: Slice potatoes into thin strips, soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then fry in oil at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown.
Step 2: Reheat the Shredded Beef
In a skillet, add the shredded beef and a splash of beef broth to keep it moist.
Heat over medium heat until warmed through. Set aside.
Step 3: Make the Cheese Sauce
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until smooth and thickened.
Stir in the shredded cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 4: Assemble the Loaded Fries
Arrange the fries on a large serving plate.
Layer the shredded beef evenly on top.
Drizzle the cheese sauce generously over the beef and fries.
Add caramelized onions and fresh parsley for extra flavor and garnish.
Step 5: Serve
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces or additional toppings like jalapeños or bacon bits.
Enjoy as a snack, appetizer, or indulgent main dish!
Pro Tip
For a spicy kick, add a drizzle of hot sauce or sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes.
